My name is Avery E. Kane. I was born and raised in the beautiful region of Southern Maryland by the Chesapeake Bay. I hold a BFA in Illustration, and am the proud graduate of The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. I grew up surrounded by water, folk art, family and a plethora of wildlife. Developing a love for nature early on which is often reflected in my work, however the heart of my passion for creation is story telling. I love stories. Stories of all kinds. From all kinds of places & all sorts of people. Whether they be in the form of: film, animation, comic, word of mouth, gaming, written, or even musical, all forms of story telling are welcome to me. They inspire and influence my life on nearly every level and make this world a truly fascinating, fantastic place to be! I love stories because they can bridge the great divides amongst us. Stories are what bind us, what teach us, what connect us and ultimately stories are what make us all in a word: Human. One day soon, I hope to finish writing my own novel series. For stories are for everyone and we all have one, needing to be shared. In painting I try to create a world to express this and more. I have an appreciation for variety both in style and by employing the use of multiple mediums in my pieces. I consider myself at heart a working Mixed Media Artist. Watercolor & Acrylic being my favorite mediums and what I consider my foundation stones but I love using multiple tools from fine thread to sculpture to digital layers. Seeking out new techniques & new mediums to improve and use to this very day is natural for me. I have skills from ink to petit-point and recently I've been familiarizing myself with Krita. Mixing two or more of these together is like creating a new world, or a new dialogue! It's a never-ending exploration much likea Neverending Story. One that I don't see myself ever getting tired of. In the end I just like trying new things.
I also enjoy traveling to other countries & meeting new people. My personal hobbies consist of: reading, listening to music, writing fanfiction, playing video games, chatting with friends, baking and becoming a better gardener. All while finding new ways to self-improve, from learning how to speak polish to teaching myself how to crochet. I keep myself busy. I think it's important to make little new dreams and goals every day. Small ones especially, because the world is overwhelming & cruel. It is always changing and sometimes the 'waves of life' are like tsunamis. In the face of the A.I. era looming on the horizon. It's more important than ever before for artists of all kinds to remember that passion comes from the soul. That it is not just about adapting. It is also about dreaming and taking time to enjoy the process of giving life to a dream. Bringing forth what is imagined into existence with every minute yet magical step.
